Weather Advisory No.1

Issued: November 08, 2024

As of 10:00 AM today, November 08, 2024, based on the latest Tropical Cyclone and Low-Pressure Area Update from the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA), a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) has been identified at approximately 1,830 kilometers East of Southeastern Luzon. The LPA remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at this time. However, it is projected to enter the PAR, with a high likelihood of further intensification into a Tropical Cyclone as it approaches the eastern part of Luzon. This weather disturbance may bring significant rainfall and strong winds to the Province of Sorsogon and nearby areas in the coming days.

In light of the recent progression of this weather disturbance, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is advising all city and municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) to implement appropriate local measures, closely monitor high-risk areas, and review contingency plans. DRRMOs are also urged to promptly disseminate information to the public to ensure preparedness and effective disaster prevention, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding, landslides, and other hazards.

The public is strongly encouraged to stay informed by regularly checking updates from DOST-PAGASA and local authorities. Community cooperation is vital to ensuring safety and preparedness during this period.
