The Third Quarter Full Council Meeting of the Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (SPDRRMC) was convened with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sorsogon presiding on behalf of the SPDRRMC Chairman, Governor Edwin “Boboy” B. Hamor. The session gathered council members and partner agencies to deliberate on key issues and initiatives that reinforce the province’s commitment to disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and resilience-building.
The meeting commenced with situational updates, including the Weather Outlook, presented by Resident Meteorologist Mr. Ryan Orogo, and the Bulusan Volcano Update, delivered by Ms. April Dominguiano, Resident Volcanologist of the Bulusan Volcano Observatory. Subsequently, the body considered the Presentation of Executive Order No. 11, series of 2025, which provides for the reorganization of the SPDRRMC, as well as the Reorganization of Cluster Membership across the Four Thematic Areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. Deliberations also covered the Realignment of Programmes, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) under the 5% Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) for Fiscal Year 2025, alongside the Report on the Accomplishment of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) Celebration.
Under Other Matters, the Council discussed and agreed on several critical undertakings: the conduct of Basic Incident Command System (ICS) Training for SPDRRMC members; the adoption of the Provincial Communication Protocol of Sorsogon; the hosting of the Third Quarter Bicol Regional Advisory on Disaster (BRAD) Meeting in the Province of Sorsogon; the Roll-out of the Infrastructure Audit; and the passage of two significant SPDRRMC Resolutions; first, authorizing the Provincial Governor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the National Food Authority (NFA), and second, supporting the Digitalization of the Province’s Base Radio Communications System.
The Council, through this assembly, reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to collaborative action, evidence-based planning, and the pursuit of innovative measures to safeguard the lives, livelihoods, and future of every Sorsoganon.
