The Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (SPDRRMC) successfully held its 1st Quarter Meeting on January 22, 2026, at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), SPDRRMO Building, Capitol Compound, Sorsogon City.
The quarterly meeting brought together council members and partner agencies to review ongoing disaster risk reduction initiatives, discuss emerging hazards, and align strategies for preparedness and response across the province.
During the meeting, the Council approved the proposed agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by discussions on matters arising from earlier deliberations. Key updates were presented on the weather outlook and the current status of Bulusan Volcano, providing crucial information for anticipatory actions and contingency planning.
The Council also emphasized the importance of strengthened coordination and linkages for disaster preparedness and response, underscoring the need for unified action among provincial offices, local government units, and partner agencies.
Among the significant agenda items was the proposed revision of the 2026 Annual Investment Program (AIP) under the 5% LDRRMF, ensuring that planned investments remain responsive to current risks and operational requirements. The meeting likewise noted the turnover of rescue equipment and monitoring systems, aimed at enhancing the provinceโs emergency response capability.
Other matters discussed included the proposed 2026 SPDRRMC and Cluster Quarterly Meeting Schedule, providing a clear roadmap for coordination activities throughout the year.
The successful conduct of the 1st Quarter SPDRRMC Meeting reaffirms the Councilโs commitment to proactive, coordinated, and effective disaster risk reduction and management in the Province of Sorsogon.
