SORSOGON PROVINCE — The Provincial Government of Sorsogon successfully conducted a Roundtable Discussion and Port Visit, highlighting its commitment to efficient, secure, and people-centered public service, particularly in transportation and emergency management. The province warmly welcomed Gilberto DC Cruz, Undersecretary and Administrator of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) under the Department of Transportation (DOTr), along with other distinguished guests.
The delegation was received by Franco Eric O. Ravanilla, who led the provincial officials in extending hospitality and support for the activity. Joining the discussions were key officials, including Raden D. Dimaano, Head of the Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (SPDRRMO); Dong Mendoza, Department Head of the Sorsogon Provincial Information Office (SPIO) and Kalusugan Program Manager; as well as Bobet Lee Rodrigueza, Municipal Mayor of Matnog, accompanied by Vice Mayor Emilio Jay Ubaldo III. Representatives from various partner agencies and stakeholders were also present, fostering a collaborative and multi-sectoral dialogue. The roundtable discussion served as a platform for Sorsogon Province to present its best practices and innovative strategies, particularly in the implementation of the Blue Lane Management System and the One-Stop Shop at Matnog Port under the Katrangkiluhan Program.
These initiatives have significantly improved passenger processing, enhanced coordination among agencies, and ensured safer, more organized port operations, especially during peak travel periods and emergency situations. The subsequent port visit allowed Undersecretary Cruz and the delegation to witness firsthand the operational efficiency and inter-agency coordination at the Matnog Port. The activity underscored the province’s proactive approach in aligning local initiatives with national transportation security standards.
